About The Position

Prepares, processes, cuts and stains histology sections to be diagnosed by a Pathologist or investigator. This role involves preparing histology sections by processing tissue and embedding, cutting, and staining prepared sections. It also includes performing special techniques such as immunohistochemical techniques and stains, and cutting of frozen tissue. The technician will also prepare and change solutions and reagents, perform general maintenance of laboratory equipment, and maintain supply and chemical inventories. Quality control, record keeping, clerical support, and assisting the supervisor with other duties and special projects are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum education.
  • Histology Technician (1 Year) Work Experience
  • Eye-Hand Coordination
  • Histological Techniques

Nice To Haves

  • Equivalent of two years college education in biology, chemistry, clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology.
  • HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification.

  • Histotechnologist (HTL) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)

Responsibilities
