Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU.

Requirements

Baccalaureate Degree in Histotechnology, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science.
OR Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or chemical, physical, or biological science with >2 years of experience in a high complexity clinical laboratory.
ASCP or equivalent
Certification within a specific area, i.e. M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP) qualifies
Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment
If certification lapses, the job will be downgraded to Medical Laboratory Scientist (non-certified) until certification is reinstated
Experience as a Histology Technologist
Current knowledge of pathology laboratory techniques and principles
1+ years’ experience with high complexity testing in Pathology
Overall knowledge of lab operations, including quality control, safety, and problem-solving
Shows evidence of leadership skills in managing people
Knowledge of department shift operations
Excellent customer service skills
Problem-solving and conflict resolution

Nice To Haves

Certification as a Histotechnologist
Previous experience in a leadership role, billing compliance, performance improvement, and regulatory standards

Responsibilities

The Histology Supervisor functions as a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for leading the histology department.
With direct oversight of staff who perform histology specimen preparation and testing specific to the pathology/histology department.
