About The Position

Capital Choice Pathology Lab seeks to hire an experienced Histology Supervisor for our Silver Spring, MD location who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. This role oversees daily Anatomic Pathology Department operations, ensuring accurate testing, regulatory compliance, efficient workflow management, and timely reporting of laboratory results. The supervisor directly manages, trains, and mentors laboratory personnel, monitors daily workflow, ensures adequate coverage and staffing across all shifts, and performs laboratory bench work. They also research and resolve laboratory matters, drive continuous process and service improvements, ensure equipment compliance through Quality Control and methodologies, and maintain accurate Quality Assurance records and documentation. Regular meetings with direct reports provide constructive feedback and coaching for professional development. The role ensures laboratory compliance with federal and state regulations, governing laws, and organizational policies and procedures, while also managing employee payroll, personnel records, and performing administrative functions to support daily operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) in a science or a health science related field preferred.
  • 4-7 years of clinical laboratory experience with a focus on Anatomic Pathology/Histology.
  • Experience with Cytology/Non-Gyns preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years in a lead or supervisory role with a focus in Anatomic Pathology/Histology.
  • HT(ASCP) certified or HTL (ASCP) certified
  • Color Vision test is required for accuracy in work.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily Anatomic Pathology Department operations, ensuring accurate testing, regulatory compliance, efficient workflow management, and timely reporting of laboratory results.
  • Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel while monitoring daily workflow, ensuring adequate laboratory coverage and staffing across all shifts, as well as performing laboratory bench work, and escalating production issues as they arise.
  • Research and resolve laboratory matters, drive continuous process and service improvements, ensure equipment compliance through Quality Control, methodologies, and maintain accurate Quality Assurance records and documentation.
  • Meet regularly with direct reports to provide constructive feedback and coaching for their professional development.
  • Ensure laboratory compliance with federal and state regulations, governing laws, organizational policies and procedures, manage employee payroll, personnel records, and perform administrative functions to support daily operations.
