The Histology Laboratory Aide is responsible for the collection, identification verification, processing and preparing of Histology samples. This role requires diligence in checking and communicating with Pathologists and Lab Coordinators, monitoring specific files, reconciling exception lists, and locating missing slides for scanning. The aide will scan all slides into scanners, provide edits per protocol, and run and maintain staining and cover-slipping instruments. Accurate scanning of slides and blocks returned from pathologists is crucial, as is processing other add-on requests and biopsy submissions. The role involves organizing test request forms with samples, sorting urgent and manifest samples, drying leaked TRFs, and receiving and organizing biopsy samples. Scanning of TRFs and monitoring output for errors are also key responsibilities. The aide will pull and reconcile assigned pending lists, maintain awareness of quality control and calibration, and crosstrain to develop knowledge of multiple specialties. Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintaining a clean work area, restocking supplies, and participating in lab efficiency improvements are expected. The role also involves consulting with senior peers on non-complex tasks and performing other assigned duties. Antech emphasizes a collaborative obligation to ethical conduct and accountability to organizational values and standards, with all associates responsible for asking questions, seeking guidance, and reporting concerns.
