Requirements

High School degree or equivalent required

Nice To Haves

College science, biology/physiology, and computer classes preferred.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates safe and competent use of equipment and software to carry out duties.
Accurate entry of patient information, billing type and specimen information into software systems such as CoPath, Sunquest and Eclipses.
Prioritize workflow by medical necessity and priority.
Operates equipment including slide stainer, fume hood, and tissue processor.
Prepares specimens for gross examination, cover slipping and staining of slides and performs special stains as requested.
Answers and responds to telephone inquiries including faxing reports as needed.
Maintains Quality Control and Quality Assurance logs.
Assists with QA studies.
Prepares bone marrow and autopsy kits.
May assist with bone marrow collections as requested.
Prepares specimens for send outs, including stone analysis, bone marrow studies and lymphoma studies.
Files slides and blocks, maintains inventory, records and stocks supplies.
