About The Position

In this role, the Histology Tech will support the delivery of patient care by performing histology techniques that are utilized in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease to ensure laboratory turnaround time and patient care goals are met.

Requirements

• Must have previous histology experience, to include cutting, embedding and special staining
• High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
• 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
• Experience cutting and embedding

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience or education
• Registered Histotechnician (ASCP)

Responsibilities

• Performs histology processing including embedding, microtomy and manual/automated staining in accordance with standard operating procedures and accreditation requirements.
• Demonstrates the organizational skills required to complete work assignments within the time scheduled.
• Schedule depends on department needs, filling in for employees on vacation, or on planned leave and/or periods of high volumes to ensure appropriate TAT of specimens.
• Includes covering shifts during holidays
