About The Position

The Health Information Tech II plays a crucial role in ensuring timely, accurate, and complete medical record documentation.

Requirements

• Minimum one year health information management experience in an acute care setting.
• Accurate alphabetic, numeric, and/or terminal-digit filing skills.
• Computer data entry with 10-key, with accurate typing speed of 35 wpm.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of terminal digit filing and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of State and Federal regulatory requirements for medical staff documentation.
• Completion of a medical terminology course.
• Background in business and office training.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and other medical personnel in achieving timely, accurate, and complete documentation practices.
• Analyzes assembled records for chart completion deficiencies in accordance with regulatory requirements and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations.
• Assigns deficiencies to the appropriate medical staff member and enters data for tracking and monitoring.
• Notifies medical staff members and holds them accountable for chart completion items.
• Assists medical staff members in their chart completion efforts and carries out the suspension process if records are not completed in a timely manner.
• Reviews documentation and updates or clears deficiencies upon completion by medical staff or addition of documents to the analyzed record.
• Answers telephone calls and assists visitors, maintaining confidentiality.
• Supports department needs through assistance in Tech I duties, Release of Information, or other assigned duties.
