About The Position

The Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist, under the guidance of the Director of Health Information Management and Privacy Officer, is primarily responsible for updating and organizing protected patient related health information (PHI). This role involves researching and reviewing data, in both hardcopy and electronic format, for accuracy and compliance with ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements. Requirements

High School diploma or GED/Enrolled in a Health Information Technology degree program or Medical Office Assistant Certification course and/or two years of experience in an HIM/medical record department or healthcare office setting with Release of Information/Correspondence preferred
Or equivalent combination of education training and experience.
Proficient computer skills
Familiar with HIPPA privacy rules
Knowledge of medical terminology
Ability to read and interpret medical records, forms, and authorizations
Quality focus and deadline driven
Team player

Nice To Haves

RHIT/Medical Office Assisting Certification preferred
Experience working in an electronic medical record (EMR) system preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensure that Jordan Health maintains complete and accurate patient records in the Jordan Health electronic medical records system.
Ensure that Jordan Health clinical teams are empowered to provide appropriate patient care.
Ensure that Jordan Health is in full compliance with applicable federal and state privacy laws when responding to requests for patient information.
Ensure that the Jordan Health medical records team is responsive to patient requests for assistance.
