About The Position

Presbyterian is hiring a skilled HIM Record Coordinator. This role serves as the departmental representative for Birth Registration and Release of Information, handling and releasing complex patient information in compliance with Federal and State regulatory guidelines. The HIM Record Coordinator also acts as a patient liaison for mothers of newborns, facilitating the birth registration process.

Requirements

  • 6 months to 1 year of experience working in Health or healthcare setting is required, preferably in an acute care hospital environment or HIM.
  • Specialized training in HIPAA Compliance and Release of Information required.
  • Must be well organized and computer literate.
  • Must be able to function with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or specialized training, college level courses preferred.
  • Customer Service skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for patients, physicians, and other public inquiries concerning clinical information processes, and release information accordingly.
  • Support heavy public interaction while maintaining good customer relations.
  • Process high-level information for internal and external customers, following Federal, State, and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Interact with internal and external customers in processing requests for release of information while maintaining a high standard of customer relations.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally through multi-telephone lines, fax, written communication, and in person.
  • Abstract statistical information for entry into the NM Vital records systems, including registering every baby born in a CNM PHS facility to Santa Fe and Childcare Services, and mailing hard copy information.
  • Enter newborn and mother information into the PHS accounting and disclosure system.
  • Manually produce and report weekly, monthly, and year-end reports to Child Support and Vital Statistics in Santa Fe.
  • Update and note the Media account with newborn name changes.
  • Prepare appropriate forms for all Paternitys and Proof of Births.
  • Obtain Notary of New Mexico certification within 3 months of hire.
  • Occasional travel to other sites may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
