About The Position
The outpatient coder reviews clinical documentation and diagnostic results, abstracts data, and assigns appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers. Coding supports billing and reimbursement, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance. The position covers account types and services including emergency department (ED), Same Day Surgeries (SDS), Ancillary (ANC), Oncology (ONC), Outpatient Rehab, Outpatient Psychiatric, and Interventional Radiology (IVR).
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly review clinical documentation and diagnostic results.
- Abstract data and assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers.
- Support billing and reimbursement, internal and external reporting, research, and regulatory compliance through accurate coding.
- Code accounts and services for ED, SDS, Ancillary, Oncology, Outpatient Rehab, Outpatient Psychiatric, and IVR.
