About The Position

Canyon Ridge Hospital is currently seeking a talented HIM Coder/Technician to join our team. Canyon Ridge Hospital is dedicated to being a leader in behavioral healthcare, providing excellent service to the community. Serving the Greater Inland Empire since 1989, Canyon Ridge is a 157-bed acute, locked psychiatric facility offering services to adolescents (13-17), adults, and older adults. We emphasize an individualized, patient-focused approach to diagnosis and treatment, recognizing that conditions like anxiety, trauma, PTSD, addiction, and dual diagnosis manifest differently in each patient. The HIM coder analyzes, abstracts, and codes diagnosis and procedural information for inpatient and outpatient medical records using ICD-10 and CPT codes, adhering to regulatory agencies and hospital guidelines. This role also supports the Health Information Management Department with various clerical and technical tasks.

Requirements

• Certified Coding Specialist (C.C.S.) REQUIRED
• Minimum one year experience with ICD-10 and CPT in a medical or psychiatric facility preferred
• ICD-10 training required
• Basic computer experience required
• Experience with ICD- 10-CM procedures and use of DSM V coding procedures required.

Nice To Haves

• Use of an encoder software product for code assignment preferred

Responsibilities

• Analyzes, abstracts and codes the diagnosis and procedural information for inpatient and outpatient medical records utilizing the International Classifications of Diseases (ICD-10) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) in accordance with regulatory agencies and hospital specific guidelines.
• Supports the Health Information Management Department through variety of clerical, technical, and related support services.
