By joining our Project Delivery & Preservation Branch I as a Highway Technician Assistant I in Oldham County, you’ll have the opportunity to you’ll have the opportunity to operate basic automotive and power equipment used in road construction and maintenance such has single axle trucks (dump, flatbed, pickup), snowplow and salt spreaders.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Driver’s license
  • Eligibility to obtain a Commercial Driver's License
  • Basic maintenance or construction experience
  • Ability to perform general labor work
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
  • Within 12 months of employment in this job classification, employees in this classification must furnish the agency's appointing authority with documentation that he or she holds a valid Class B commercial driver's license.
  • Within one year of employment in this job classification, the employee must complete First Aid and Snow and Ice Training and must possess Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 Certifications or equivalent.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
  • Ability to work, sit, stoop and bend.
  • Able to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Able to respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Use construction equipment to maintain roads
  • Use equipment to control vegetation along roads.
  • Use equipment to perform snow removal on highways.
  • Use equipment to spread salt on the highways to prevent icing.
  • Flag for traffic control.
