Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices
  • Expert knowledge of engineering principles of design
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Expert knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations
  • Basic knowledge of design standards (AASHTO, NACTO, etc.)
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • Professional engineering (PE) license
  • 10 years of related experience

Responsibilities

  • Work on innovative roadway design projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Collaborate with technical specialists who boast extensive expertise in a variety of design areas, including roads, bridges, structures, traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems, public transit, and more
  • Review draft designs to ensure alignment with regulatory standards and firm policies, updating design requirements as necessary
  • Conduct site reviews and inspections of transportation structures, guaranteeing the highest quality of construction
  • Work closely with sales staff to develop proposals that meet current and potential clients' unique needs, fostering strong client relationships
  • Attend conferences and symposia to stay current on industry trends and innovations while providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff
