About The Position

Benesch is seeking to hire a Highway Project Manager to support our growing transportation team. This is a strong opportunity to play a key role in advancing the Connecticut Division’s growth while delivering impactful transportation projects across the region. In this role, you will step into a first-level leadership position, leading project delivery, mentoring staff, and building client relationships across Connecticut and the Northeast. You will own project delivery end-to-end, navigate competing priorities, and drive results across multidisciplinary teams. You will work on high-visibility transportation projects that support regional mobility, access, and economic development in partnership with municipalities and local agencies. This includes leading small to mid-sized highway and local roadway projects, as well as owning key scopes within larger, multi-disciplinary transportation efforts. Successful, impactful projects in various states of design include the Route 15 Interchange 52 Ramp Reconfiguration in Hamden/North Haven, 4+ miles of Route 85 reconstruction in Salem/Montville, and the addition of Auxiliary Lanes along I-95 Northbound and Southbound between Interchanges 42 and 43 in West Haven.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • PE license in Connecticut with 8 to 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years in project management or task leadership on highway or local roadway projects
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills, with the ability to manage teams and projects effectively
  • Proven ability to manage project scope, budgets, and schedules while delivering high-quality results
  • Ability to work independently and produce complete, reviewable deliverables
  • Experience developing proposals, presentations, and supporting project pursuits
  • Experience working with ConnDOT and local agencies, with established relationships preferred
  • Familiarity with alternative delivery methods
  • Proficiency in Bentley tools such as MicroStation or OpenRoads

  • Master’s degree in engineering or business is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver small to mid-sized highway and local roadway projects, or serve as a task lead on larger, multi-disciplinary transportation efforts
  • Own project scope, budget, and schedule, including developing proposals and managing financial performance
  • Coordinate engineers and designers while aligning resources to keep projects moving forward efficiently
  • Serve as the primary client contact, building strong relationships and ensuring successful project outcomes
  • Partner with leadership on project strategy, performance, and overall delivery
  • Support business development efforts, including identifying opportunities and contributing to proposals and interviews
  • Mentor and develop engineers, EITs, and designers through hands-on project work
