About The Position

Job Summary: Ability to operate a patrol truck; plow snow; spread salt and sand; grade shoulders; cut weeds and brush; clean culverts; patch roads; paint/maintain guard rails; put up and remove snow fence; and perform any other related highway maintenance and construction work as required; keep records and make reports.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three to five years related experience.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License with CDL certification and adequate insurance as required by the County.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining bridges.
  • All maintenance on our state highway system.
  • Continued litter pick up.
  • Flagging/signing and emergency sign repair.
  • Making minor equipment repairs.
  • Assisting mechanics, machinery maintenance worker, and miscellaneous equipment and maintenance operator with repairs.
  • Being on call twenty-four hours a day.
  • Performing any other related highway maintenance and construction work as required.
  • Operating a patrol truck.
  • Plowing snow.
  • Spreading salt and sand.
  • Grading shoulders.
  • Cutting weeds and brush.
  • Cleaning culverts.
  • Patching roads.
  • Painting/maintaining guard rails.
  • Putting up and removing snow fence.
  • Keeping records and making reports.
