About The Position

The State Highway Administration's (SHA) Office of Transportation Mobility & Operations (Anne Arundel County) is currently recruiting for a Highway Operations Technician IV - Field Operations position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification. This is the area supervisor level of emergency highway operations work for the Maryland State Highway Administration. The employee in this position is responsible for overseeing outside operations at the SOC / TOC including assurance work meets standard operating procedures. The HOT IV- Field is responsible for supervision, guidance, training and discipline of subordinates/employees and provides thorough knowledge, training, supervision and response regarding traffic management while following established standard operational procedures. This position also establishes and fosters communications between response personnel, state and local emergency agencies, office of communications, media and other traffic management agencies. The employee is capable of performing all field operations of a working level ERT.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Three (3) years of experience in emergency highway response operations work.
  • Two (2) years of which must have included responsibility for performing traffic control at incident scenes and providing motorist assistance.
  • Class “A” CDL motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the state of Maryland.
  • ICS 100, 200, and 700 certifications.
  • Flagger Certification.
  • Temporary Traffic Control for Manager certification.
