Reporting to the Foreman, the Highway Maintenance Worker/Operator is responsible for contributing to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment, maintaining well-stocked maintenance facilities and completing necessary documentation, including logs, reports, and safety records. This role also involves safely transporting hazardous materials and managing traffic in high-volume work zones and emergency situations, as well as maintaining, servicing, and inspecting company equipment, vehicles, and facilities, ensuring proper care and security. The position requires adherence to labor laws, company policies, safety regulations, and environmental compliance, while applying QA/QC standards for highway maintenance, road safety, and hazard assessments. The role is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Additionally, the worker will operate additional heavy equipment as required, to support project needs, and ensure proper signage, traffic control measures, and emergency response for weather events, accidents, and wildlife hazards.
