The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking to fill multiple non-permanent Highway Maintenance Worker positions for the winter maintenance season in South Central Region, Area 2. These positions are available in Randle (White Pass), East Selah (Yakima), Rimrock (Naches), and Toppenish. The successful candidates will be responsible for snow and ice removal, repairing guardrail and signs, patching potholes, clearing brush and trees, maintaining drainage systems, and providing traffic control to ensure the safety of the public and work crews. Working under the direction of a Highway Maintenance Worker 3 and the supervision of a Highway Maintenance Supervisor, these roles are vital to supporting the safe and efficient movement of people, goods, and services. WSDOT maintenance personnel are expected to respond quickly to clear highways of hazards. This position may involve working at elevated heights, traversing rough, steep, and uneven terrain. A typical schedule is 40 hours per week, for 4, 10-hour days, but weekends, nights, and holidays may be required for emergencies.
