The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking two Highway Maintenance Workers (HMW2) to support the North Central Region in Othello and Moses Lake, WA. These positions will assist with the maintenance and repair of state highways and highway structures to ensure the safety of the traveling public. As members of the regional maintenance organization, the selected candidates will perform tasks such as asphalt and concrete maintenance, traffic control, repair and installation of guardrail and signs, and culvert and drainage maintenance. This role requires responsible, safety-minded individuals to perform a variety of skilled labor tasks and operate highway equipment and tools in the field on active roadways and in various weather conditions. The work is often physical, primarily outdoors, and next to high-volume, high-speed traffic, potentially requiring standing for extended periods, working at elevated heights, and traversing rough terrain. A typical schedule is 40 hours per week over four 10-hour shifts, with potential for nights, weekends, and holidays for emergency response.
