About The Position

Fluor is seeking a Highway Maintenance Tech to inspect and maintain contracted assets including roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, barrier walls, noise walls, fences, bridges, lighting, and vegetation according to contract standards and supervisor direction. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety and appearance of highways and related infrastructure.

Ability to comprehend and respond to audible/visual instructions, alarms, and warnings.
Climb/balance on ladders, scaffolding, and structures for work tasks.
Kneel for work positioning and work task performance.
Reach above shoulders and away from body to perform work tasks.
Demonstrate manual dexterity to perform work tasks.
Class B CDL (for snow plow operation).

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair highway and other surfaces including potholes, striping, adding or replacing reflectors.
Create safe traffic control by setting up and removing traffic control devices such as cones, message/arrow boards, and temporary signage.
Maintain clean highways and medians by removing and disposing of litter and debris.
Repair and maintain slopes, berms, culverts, and drains using hand or power tools and equipment.
Control vegetation appearance and growth using herbicide equipment, trimmers, chemical sprayers, and other methods.
Maintain the appearance and functionality of signs, guardrails, fences, and lighting through repair and/or replacement using hand or power tools.
Transport crew and equipment to work sites using pickup trucks and specialized motor vehicles.
Be available for work rotations as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Follow all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Perform cleanup duties.
Perform material handling and storage duties.
Identify, use, and care for common hand and power tools.
Use and care of craft-specific tools and equipment.
Apply craft-related mathematics.
Apply knowledge of common hitches, emergency stop signals, basic crane hand signals, knot tying (bowline & clove hitch), and use of rigging equipment relevant to craft-specific tasks.
Apply knowledge of safety standards and best safety practices relevant to rigging.
Inspect rigging equipment and hardware.
Maintain and repair highways, county roads, and construction roadways resulting from traffic change patterns (e.g., reclaimed asphalt repair, striping).
Monitor roadways for damage and advise the superintendent regarding required maintenance.
Make repairs to pavements, street furniture, and road markings.
Operate machinery and trucks, including light-duty vehicles.
Perform tasks such as snow and ice removal, including snow plow operation (with Class B CDL only).
Ensure smooth operation of traffic control and traffic control systems.
Liaise with local authorities and utility companies.
