About The Position

The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a Highway Maintenance Supervisor to join our maintenance team based in Meeteetse, Wyoming. In this role, you will lead a dedicated team to maintain and improve the state’s highways, playing a vital part in keeping Wyoming’s transportation system safe and reliable. Requirements

  • 3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Highway Maintenance/Highway Construction) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Highway Maintenance Specialist
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License OR Bachelor's Degree (typically in Management)
  • 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Highway Maintenance/Highway Construction) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Highway Maintenance Specialist
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • WYDOT Maintenance experience and/or Management experience.
  • Ability to obtain water certifications if necessary.
  • Ability to obtain a Certification to operate specified equipment as directed by WYDOT.
  • Ability to obtain a Certificate of course completion of Defensive Driving.
  • Ability to obtain a First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Ability to obtain a Flagger certification.

Responsibilities

  • Will lead a crew of 5 employees to ensure adequate services are provided along with the safest conditions for the traveling public.
  • Oversees and performs all maintenance tasks.
  • Observes, verifies, and documents the work activities of the team.
  • Plan, assign, and supervise the work of the team daily.
  • Communicates project information and proposed courses of action and/or subsequent consequences.
  • Completes performance evaluations for their team members.
  • Ability to make and record daily weather observations.
  • Complete budgeting, resource management, and scheduling for the department.
  • Operate single and tandem-axle trucks, equipped with an auger, aerial lift equipment, front plow, wing plow, sander, and chemical systems to remove snow and ice from roadway surfaces.
  • Responsible for the rehabilitation of roadway surfaces and traffic control devices.
  • Attends and completes all required training to obtain or maintain required certifications, perform inspections, and learn new skills.
  • Utilizes special computerized equipment.
  • Operate front-end loaders, plow trucks, rotary plows, and other heavy equipment to assist with snow removal.
  • Provides leadership, coordinates all maintenance activities, and gives direction to subordinates performing snow removal operations.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently operate computer systems and programs.
  • Responsible for preparing long-range and yearly work plans for assigned road sections.
