About The Position

Under general direction, maintain winter State and County Trunk Highways and right of way so as to aid in the safe flow of traffic throughout Green Lake County.

Requirements

• General knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in snow clearing operations
• Knowledge, ability and skill in the use of assorted small tools that could be hand or power, motorized vehicles, material handling equipment, front end loaders, snow removal equipment, grader
• Assorted personal protective equipment as required.
• Ability and skill to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing or with hand and arm signals.
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions.
• Ability to work flexible, hours to accommodate snow removal on weekends and emergency call-ins, as necessary.
• Ability to establish and effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the public.
• Must possess a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
• High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• 1-2 years’ plowing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with A, B, C, D, and preferably N endorsement

Responsibilities

• Snow and ice removal work
• Putting up and taking down snow fence
• Mounting and dismounting of winter equipment
• Treeing and brushing
• Rubber crack filling
• Occasional other maintenance activities when not plowing
• Assists in the upkeep, maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds and equipment.
• Perform other work as assigned by the Commissioner or Superintendent
