About The Position

As a Highway Foreman 2 with the Department of Transportation, you will step into a leadership role that helps keep our highways functioning smoothly. You will guide dedicated crews, manage important maintenance tasks, and support safe travel for everyone. The work you will do makes a visible difference across the region. In this position, you will oversee daily highway maintenance operations and leads crews in completing a wide range of roadway projects. The work you will do plays a key role in ensuring safe and well-maintained travel routes across the district.

Requirements

• One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
• Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training
• Possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License
• Able to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

• Direct crews in performing varied highway maintenance activities
• Guide work involving patching, drainage tasks, roadside cleanup, and emergency response
• Promote safe work practices and respond quickly to incidents or hazards
• Schedule tasks, allocate resources, and review road conditions to support effective planning
• Teach proper use of tools, equipment, and maintenance procedures to crew members
