Civil Engineering Intern (Highway)
About The Position
RS&H is seeking a Highway Engineering Intern to join its Infrastructure Business Unit in Tampa, Florida. The intern will be mentored by and collaborate with engineering associates while assisting with roadway design and plan preparation. The position offers hands-on experience and an opportunity to learn more about the transportation engineering industry. The Infrastructure team delivers planning, environmental, and engineering design solutions for transportation projects, including managed toll lanes, long-range corridor plans, complex interchanges, major roadways, and segmental bridges. The company provides integrated architecture, engineering, and consulting services for facility and infrastructure projects.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering at an accredited ABET university.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
Nice To Haves
- GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Prior internship or related experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
- Experience or exposure to FDOT plan preparation and design standards.
- Specific interest in transportation or roadway design.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine calculations requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles.
- Prepare and revise plan documents and details.
- Collect and prepare data for evaluation.
- Perform engineering work using computer-assisted engineering software and equipment.
- Provide support to engineering and project management associates.
