In the role of Highway Engineer, we'll count on you to work as a key member of a highway/roadway design team for moderate to large projects, and to work independently on smaller projects. You will prepare or oversee roadway/highway design work using local or AASHTO standards, including horizontal and vertical alignments, roadway sections, intersection layouts and sight distance determinations, interchange layouts, and right-of-way plans. You will also assist in the management of larger projects or manage smaller projects, including preparation of scopes, budgets, and schedules. This includes managing day-to-day communication with the design team and client, supporting and advising junior engineers and technical staff, writing reports and technical memos, coordinating with subconsultants, keeping projects on schedule and within budget, and ensuring client satisfaction. Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Hands-on experience with Highways and Roads CAD engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d
  • MS Office knowledge
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Nice To Haves

  • BSCE or related field.
  • 5 years of transportation engineering design experience required.
  • Experience working on Ohio DOT projects.
  • Experience working on Design-Build projects a plus.

Responsibilities
