About The Position

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Highway Design Engineer in Milwaukee, WI. This role involves gathering and correlating basic engineering data, performing specific and moderate portions of broader assignments, and working on detailed or routine engineering assignments including calculations and tests. The engineer will propose approaches to solve new problems, identify discrepancies, provide guidance to entry-level engineers, and perform work within budget and schedule with minimal supervision. Key tasks include completing primary design elements for engineering works, managing projects, and overseeing the work of entry-level staff. Telecommuting is permitted up to 3 days per week.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field of study
1 year of experience as a Highway Engineer, Transportation Engineer, or in a related occupation
Experience in highway and roadway design, including geometric design, horizontal and vertical design, intersection design, ramp design, curb ramp design, traffic staging, and permitting
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
Experience with MicroStation
Experience with ProjectWise
Experience with AutoTURN Pro

Responsibilities

Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
Perform specific and moderate portion of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests
Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments
Identify discrepancies in results
Provide guidance to entry level engineers
Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision
Perform necessary tasks to complete primary design elements for engineering works
Manage projects and the projects of entry-level staff
