Highway Design Engineer
About The Position
JMT is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm of more than 2,800 professionals that provides a full range of multi-disciplined engineering, architecture, information technology, and related services to public agencies and private clients throughout the United States. JMT is currently ranked #45 on Engineering News-Record’s list of the Top 500 Design Firms. This position uses general engineering principles to develop highway and roadway designs, estimates, and plans. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
Requirements

- Share working knowledge of best practices
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are paramount
- Strong sense of time management and ability to prioritize tasks
- Willingness to support the design and production of plans
- Ability to manage concurrent projects
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel & Outlook. MS Project)
Responsibilities
- Develop and review highway design alternatives
- Develop 3D roadway design models
- Develop plan, profile, and exhibits for internal and external communication
- Design projects in accordance with client specifications and guidelines, using highway design software
- Develop construction cost estimates
- Assist in the preparation of engineering reports and memos
- Assist in the preparation of proposals
- Attend meetings with clients
- Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project completion by the defined deadline and established quality
- Perform other related duties as assigned
