About The Position

The Thrasher Group is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Highway Construction Inspector to join their Transportation team, with positions available throughout Ohio. The successful candidate will ensure the quality of highway construction projects, verify compliance with ODOT plans and specifications, and maintain high standards of workmanship on roadway, bridge, and related infrastructure projects. This role is for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment and want their work to have a visible, lasting impact.

Requirements

• Possess the ability to lead a team and delegate duties
• Have, or possess the ability to obtain, ODOT prequalification’s/certifications such as, but not limited to, ODOT Project Inspector 2 and ODOT Project Structure Inspector
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I and Soil and Aggregate Inspector are highly desired
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Prior experience working on large-scale highway construction projects is preferred
• The ability to use construction-related software, such as Bluebeam and AASHTOWare (AWP), is highly desired

Responsibilities

• Prepare daily field reports
• Monitor the progress of construction projects and provide regular updates to project managers
• Provide inspection for various roadway, construction, and renovation projects, including monitoring road conditions, bridges, traffic, and materials
• Read and interpret construction plans and project specifications
• Inspect materials and installation methods for compliance with approved plans and specifications
• Identify and report any deviations from plans or specifications to project managers
