This position is for a Highway/Civil Engineer at STV Inc., a prominent infrastructure-focused professional services firm in North America. The role involves the development and review of detailed engineering designs, calculations, construction documents, and specifications for railway and highway transportation infrastructure projects. Key responsibilities include analyzing existing conditions, designing new construction and renovation projects for tunnels, roadways, bridges, and streetscapes, and performing engineering design for various elements such as horizontal and vertical alignments, grading, utility relocation, drainage, pavement marking, signaling, lighting, stormwater pollution prevention (SWPPP), and erosion sediment control (ESC) plans. The engineer will ensure designs comply with applicable codes and government standards, including AASHTO guidelines, and develop detailed traffic control plans using MUTCD. The role also encompasses managing sub-consultants, conducting site and field inspections, monitoring budgets, schedules, and quality, performing quantity take-offs and cost estimating, drafting reports and technical proposals, and reviewing shop and working drawings. A significant aspect of the role is supervising, mentoring, and training junior engineers, ensuring quality control and fostering professional growth. The engineer is expected to identify engineering challenges and propose innovative solutions. Project coordination, tracking progress, and assisting with scheduling are also part of the duties.
