About The Position

The High Voltage (HV) Construction Supervisor is a critical leadership role responsible for protecting and delivering power to some of the most advanced, mission-critical data center infrastructure in the industry. In this role, you will serve as the site authority for high-voltage systems, leading technicians and contractors through complex switching, maintenance, and outage activities that directly support 24/7 operations. You will work at the center of power reliability—partnering with Operations, Engineering, and utility providers to ensure safe, uninterrupted energy delivery while supporting system expansions and next-generation infrastructure growth. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working with high-voltage systems (13.8kV–345kV) in substations, utilities, industrial facilities, or data center environments.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role (Supervisor, Foreman, Lead Technician, or equivalent) overseeing HV electrical work execution.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license, or Journeyman Lineman license.
  • Authorized/qualified for high-voltage switching.
  • NETA certification or equivalent HV testing experience.
  • NFPA 70E and OSHA 30 certification.
  • Expert knowledge of HV switching procedures and substation safety practices.
  • Strong technical understanding of power transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, battery and DC control systems, Substation control schemes.
  • Ability to read and interpret one-lines diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, relay logic, and coordination studies.
  • Working knowledge of HV testing and diagnostics, including: DGA / oil analysis, insulation resistance testing, breaker timing, infrared thermography, SF6 handling and testing.
  • Strong leadership presence with effective communication and contractor coordination skills.
  • Proven ability to make sound decisions during outages, abnormal operating conditions, and emergency response events.
  • Proficient with QA/QC systems, PtW and Switching Instruction documentation, and reporting standards.
  • Pre-employment screening, including background check and substance testing may be required according to company policies.
  • Work performed in outdoor substations and energized electrical environments.
  • Must provide own steel-toed work boots; all other required PPE will be supplied.
  • Ability to walk job sites, climb ladders and stairs, and perform field inspections and oversight.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the work site daily or relocate prior to start.
  • Must be comfortable working a rotational schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Must be able to respond during off-hours for emergency events.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily HV construction activities to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality execution across substations.
  • Lead HV switching, isolation, grounding, and restoration activities in accordance with company procedures and NFPA 70E / OSHA requirements.
  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and energization of HV equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, protective relays, and control power systems.
  • Coordinate and oversee third-party contractors performing HV testing, and commissioning work; verify qualifications, scope compliance, and work quality.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NERC (where applicable), local utility requirements, and internal operational standards.
  • Review, approve, and maintain switching orders, QA/QC reports, condition assessments, test results.
  • Support fault response, troubleshooting, incident investigations, and root cause analysis (RCA); implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations on outage planning, load transfers, equipment upgrades, commissioning, and energization activities.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and training to HV technicians, reinforcing safe work practices and procedural discipline.
  • Maintain strict adherence to all safety policies and procedures. Safety is a condition of employment.
