About The Position

GEO Next Generation High School, part of the GEO Foundation's network of high-quality charter schools, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced High School World History Teacher. This tuition-free, public charter school, which will expand to include grades 9-12 over three years, aims to cultivate critical thinking skills and provide an outstanding K-12 learning experience. The school emphasizes a partnership with a local community college for dual credit courses, and its curriculum and teaching methods are based on Core Knowledge, Teach Like a Champion, and a blended learning model. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching world history, be responsible for creating and implementing lesson plans, grading, providing feedback, and maintaining a positive and engaging classroom environment that fosters a love of learning.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or higher with at least 24 credit hours in content area
• Valid State of Louisiana Teaching Certificate/License for grades 6-12
• At least one (or more) of the following: National Board Certification, TAP Experience, o Core Knowledge Experience, Blended Learning Experience, At least two years of successful teaching in an urban environment
• Strong technical skills, particularly in integrating technology in the classroom to drive academic achievement
• Can demonstrate strong classroom management skills
• Demonstrated volunteer or community service

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement a blended learning environment, providing direct and indirect instruction in World Geography based on the Louisiana Student Standards for World Geography
• Participation in all TAP requirements, focusing on data-driven instruction
• Participate in all relevant Professional Development
• Maintain high behavioral expectations for all students
• Create an inviting, exciting, innovative and engaging learning environment that develops student critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Prepare students for strong academic achievement and passing of all required assessments
• Communicate regularly with parents
