CRESCENT VIEW SOUTH PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL II is seeking a Full Time High School Tutor to work Monday - Friday. The compensation ranges from $20.60/hour to $30.90/hour, depending on education. • Proficient in basic computer literacy and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to travel in performance of job duties is required.
• Mental Demands: high workflow management, high project coordination.
• Finger Dexterity: using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
• Talking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
• Average Hearing: able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
• Average Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery.
• Physical Strength: sedentary work. Sitting most of the time, and occasionally exerts up to 10 lbs. of force (almost all office jobs).
• Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work required.
• Working in a noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadline pressures.

• Knowledgeable in Math and Reading teaching techniques is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic support in the form of one-on-one or small group tutoring to help students comprehend subject material and successfully complete courses.
• Perform other related school activities in support of student engagement and retention.
• Tutor students in all subject areas using various mediums such as online classes, virtual tutoring, one-on-one, and small group tutoring, based on collected class and text notes.
• Tutor students in essential skills like literacy and technology, and provide access to online or virtual courses.
• Provide basic technical support for online course setup and access.
• Determine concepts needing re-teaching from student notes and discussions.
• Evaluate student binders, including calendars, class and text notes, and book notes.
• Establish and maintain control in learning environments and administer discipline according to policies.
• Conduct mini-lessons on writing processes, study skills, and course preparation.
• Conduct brainstorming and clustering sessions with students as needed.
• Become familiar with available educational materials and resources.
• Facilitate peer critique groups in subject area labs as needed.
• Contact teachers regarding course outlines and assignment schedules for intervention sessions.
• Contact students and parents using company technologies for program, outreach, and retention.
• Communicate frequently and honestly with teachers regarding student progress and concerns.
• Determine tutorial session focus from teacher directions and student work evaluation.
• Maintain a cooperative, professional relationship with administrators, teachers, colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Utilize Socratic questioning and writing techniques as needed.
• Review student course schedules for accuracy and provide support.
• Periodically assist in testing and assessments.
• Assist professionals in the instructional program with discipline and encouraging acceptable behavior, serving as a positive role model.
• Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Stay informed of and comply with district and school regulations and policies.
• Maintain prompt and regular attendance for each assignment.
• Attend all required tutoring training and adhere to attendance policies.
