About The Position

The California Virtual Academies (CAVA) is a network of 9 public charter schools providing online/virtual home-based instruction to students in grades TK-12 across California. Utilizing K12, Inc. curriculum and the Engageli platform for live instruction, CAVA offers scheduling flexibility while requiring students to log in daily, complete coursework, and attend instructional sessions. High School teachers manage a caseload of both content and homeroom students. They deliver standards-based instruction in virtual classrooms, provide targeted support, feedback, and grading within three days. Teachers build relationships with homeroom students through daily sessions, monthly outreach, and monitoring attendance, progress, and engagement, implementing interventions as needed. Local assignment of homeroom students is prioritized, as teachers must plan and attend in-person outings and events. Communication with learning coaches and families occurs via telephone, web conferencing, and email. Teachers conduct quarterly parent/teacher/student conferences, attend virtual meetings, PLCs, data conferencing, and professional development (virtual and in-person). Face-to-face tutoring and other in-person opportunities with students may occur. All teachers are required to proctor state testing.
