This role is responsible for promoting the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of assigned students. The teacher will utilize available instructional materials and a variety of techniques to foster student achievement and development, demonstrating knowledge of appropriate developmental practices. Key functions include maintaining accurate records, ensuring a safe and attractive classroom, implementing effective classroom management, and completing administrative tasks in a timely manner. The position involves planning and preparing lessons, submitting them weekly, and reporting punctually to assigned duties. The teacher will also be responsible for managing classroom books and equipment, staying informed about system methods and resources, and using various diagnostic and placement methods. Professional conduct, including self-control and decorum, is expected, along with providing for individual differences and continually evaluating student progress. Cooperation with school personnel and engagement with parents regarding student progress are essential. The role also requires a commitment to professional growth through inservice training and faculty participation, adherence to Louisiana laws, and contributing to the quality of education in Jefferson Parish Public Schools. Active participation in the evaluation process and performing other duties assigned by the principal are also required.
