About The Position

The California Virtual Academies (CAVA) is a network of 9 public charter schools providing online/virtual home-based instruction to students in grades TK-12 across California. Utilizing K12, Inc. curriculum and the Engageli platform for live instruction, CAVA offers a flexible yet structured online learning environment. Students are required to log in daily, complete coursework, and attend instructional sessions. High School teachers manage a caseload of both content and homeroom students. They deliver standards-based instruction in virtual classrooms, provide targeted support, offer one-to-one assistance, and grade work within three days. Teachers build relationships with homeroom students through daily sessions, monthly direct contact, and by monitoring attendance, progress, and engagement, implementing interventions as needed. Local assignment of homeroom students is prioritized due to the requirement for teachers to plan and attend in-person outings and events. Communication with learning coaches and families occurs regularly via telephone, web conferencing, and email. Teachers conduct quarterly parent/teacher/student conferences, attend virtual meetings, and participate in PLCs, data conferencing, and professional development (both virtual and in-person). Face-to-face tutoring and other in-person opportunities with students may also occur. All teachers are responsible for proctoring state testing.
