About The Position

North Hopkins ISD is seeking a dynamic and student-centered educator to serve as a High School Teacher, Assistant Coach, and Class Sponsor. The ideal candidate will contribute to academic instruction, athletic development, and student leadership activities, supporting a well-rounded high school experience. This position requires a commitment to both academic excellence and athletic program support. Candidates should expect a schedule that includes instructional duties during the school day and coaching responsibilities outside of school hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel for athletic events.

Requirements

  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Texas Teacher Certification (Science preferred; other core areas considered)
  • Must hold a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or be willing to obtain it within the first year of employment
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills required

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred certification in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
  • Candidates with other core subject certifications (Math, ELA, Social Studies, etc.) will also be considered
  • Experience in coaching at the high school level
  • Strong background in student engagement and differentiated instruction
  • Ability to contribute positively to campus culture and athletic program growth

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, TEKS-aligned instruction
  • Assess student learning and provide feedback to support growth
  • Utilize effective classroom management and instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs
  • Assist with program development, daily practices, and game preparation for Assistant Boys Basketball Coach and a secondary sport (Softball or Track & Field)
  • Supervise student-athletes and promote sportsmanship and character development
  • Support off-season training, strength and conditioning, and athlete development
  • Comply with UIL, district, and campus expectations
  • Serve as a class sponsor, organizing and overseeing class meetings, activities, and student-led initiatives
  • Coordinate fundraising efforts and manage class accounts in accordance with district guidelines
  • Assist in planning major student events (e.g., prom, homecoming activities, graduation-related events)
  • Promote student leadership, responsibility, and school spirit
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding class activities
  • Support student-athletes beyond the classroom through strength/conditioning, off-season development, and travel
