About The Position

School in the Square is seeking a dedicated, mission-aligned Student Support Services Coordinator to help lead its newly opened High School. This role reports to the Principal and collaborates with the School Leadership Team (SLT). The coordinator will focus on ensuring high academic standards while addressing the social-emotional needs of all students. Key responsibilities include implementing a college and career-aligned academic and social development program for students with disabilities and multilingual learners, using data to ensure research-based support and intervention fidelity, tracking student achievement, and partnering with families. The role involves leading the vision for co-teaching, managing and coaching teachers responsible for IEP case management and compliance, creating support programs, and leading professional development focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion to ensure access for all learners.

Requirements

  • Experience as a full-time, impactful secondary special educator with a minimum of five years.
  • A Masters Degree.
  • New York state certification as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities or service provider.
  • Evidence of deep knowledge of special education compliance and effective practice.
  • Adept problem-solver with a demonstrated ability to think critically, plan strategically, as well as research and perform detailed data analysis.
  • Documented success coaching special educators and leading school-wide systems to support students with disabilities and multilingual learners.
  • Strong instructional leadership skills with experience coaching teachers and leading professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to inform instruction and strengthen student outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to equity and culturally responsive practice.
  • A strategic, solutions-focused thinker with strong communication and planning skills.
  • A consummate coach and strong relationship builder, you get personal fulfillment by succeeding through others and developing teachers and leaders.
  • Familiar with restorative practices, a strong believer in anti-racism education, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy, trauma informed practices.
  • Professional fluency in Spanish or experience with ESL/Dual Language teaching preferred.
  • Proactive and fast learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate experience using technology as both a management and instructional tool.
  • A high appreciation for and ability to work in and lead a diverse community.
  • Team-player capable of working both collaboratively and independently with a proven ability to engage, enlist, and energize others in ongoing improvement of learning and teaching.

  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in an urban charter school setting is strongly preferred.
