About The Position

The Dallas Morning News has an opening for a part-time sports clerk. This position's primary job will be to edit and format statistical information for print and digital use.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of journalism experience; bachelor's degree or progress toward
• Broad knowledge of sports and their statistics
• An eye for detail and accuracy
• Ability to multi-task
• Capable of performing under tight deadlines

Nice To Haves

• Ability to design pages is a plus

Responsibilities

• Data entry of raw statistics
• Communicating with other editors so stats complement stories and fit available space
• Proofing pages for errors in headlines, stories and captions
• Occasionally answering phones and taking dictation of results or stories
