About The Position

The Quad Preparatory School is seeking a High School SPED Biology Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This role involves providing academic instruction and social-emotional support to neurodiverse, twice-exceptional students in small class settings (no more than ten students, with some one-to-one or dyad instruction). Teachers will collaborate with clinicians and academic administrators, receiving mentorship and coaching. The position offers significant professional development opportunities in working with twice-exceptional youth and learning from experienced special education teachers, administrators, and clinicians.   • At least one year of paid experience teaching science or a related subject to middle and/or high school students or college undergraduates.

Nice To Haves

  • At least three years experience as a full-time high school science teacher.
  • Master’s degree in science education, special education, biology, or a related field.
  • Special education training, including training in the areas of gifted education and twice-exceptional youth.
  • Secondary Science and/or Special Education teaching credential.
  • Experience teaching twice-exceptional youth.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement high-quality, engaging biology lessons differentiated to meet student learning needs.
  • Regularly assess students and curriculum, adapting content and instruction as appropriate, and communicating results to parents.
  • Implement the school’s philosophy of progressive and personalized education for twice-exceptional children.
  • Collaborate with psychosocial teachers to integrate executive functioning support within the academic curriculum.
  • Map and evaluate curriculum.
  • Collaborate with the science department to ensure a vertically aligned K-12 science program.
  • Develop and teach electives.
  • Create and maintain an orderly and aesthetic learning environment that considers students’ social, emotional, and executive functioning needs.
  • Maintain accurate records using the learning management system Veracross and student work portfolios.
  • Empower students to take charge of their learning by providing scaffolding, modeling, materials, and resources, while maintaining high expectations.
  • Collaborate with academic and psychosocial staff to plan, integrate, and facilitate cross-curricular, inquiry-based projects.
  • Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress through conferences, reports, phone calls, and emails.
  • Adhere to the professional code and policies of the school.
  • Utilize Google Suite (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets).
  • Attend faculty and staff meetings, professional development sessions, and required special events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, such as serving as an academic advisor or leading a student club.
