About The Position

This specific role is for a High School Math/Special Education Teacher within one of the two high schools in Philadelphia, TECH Freire Charter School or Freire Charter High School. The schools are known for their rigorous college preparatory program and commitment to peace. The position involves working as part of the special education team to ensure students receive high-quality instruction, services, and support through effective co-teaching and targeted interventions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Valid state teaching certification or commitment to obtain
• Strong instructional skill and content knowledge
• Experience supporting students through co-teaching, accommodations, and targeted interventions
• Positive, collaborative, solution-oriented mindset
• At least two years of experience working with diverse student populations

Responsibilities

• Teach 2 sections of Algebra and manage a caseload of students
• Familiarize yourself with IEPs and specially designed instructional/behavioral accommodations for the students on your caseload.
• Leverage content specific curriculum and create learning materials to promote critical thinking and problem solving.
• Establish consistent communication rhythms with families regarding individual student progress and school related information.
• Actively participate in professional development and collaboration with staff to support the needs of our students.
• Teachers hired at Freire Charter High School (20th & Chestnut St.) have the opportunity to be CREW Leaders and will co-lead a class focusing on SEL and community building twice a week.
