About The Position

KIPP New Jersey is seeking awe-inspiring teachers to guide students as they climb the mountain to college and beyond. Teachers are dynamic leaders both in and outside of their classroom, loving students, working with families, and the community they serve. The role includes responsibilities such as creating, internalizing, modifying, and preparing lesson plans in accordance with academic curriculum, working closely with the grade level team. Teachers will use data to responsively teach to mastery of academic skills, work closely with students, families, and colleagues to create a supportive environment for student progress, and reinforce a firm foundation for all classes while upholding classroom management techniques. They will also assist with diagnostic and progress monitoring testing, monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies, update student performance trackers, and participate in school, departmental, and parent meetings and events.

Eligible for a traditional NJ teaching certification.
Hold a valid traditional teaching certification in NJ –or– Meet GPA Requirement & Content Credit Requirement.
If graduated after September 2016: Bachelor’s or Master’s GPA on a conferred degree that is ≥ 3.0 –or– Bachelor’s or Master’s GPA on a conferred degree that is between 2.75 and 3.0 AND demonstrate that you have passed all required Praxis exams with a +10% passing score (super scores).
If graduated before September 2016: Bachelor’s or Master’s GPA on a conferred degree that is ≥ 2.75.
Have the appropriate content credits on your transcript for your teaching assignment (specific credit requirements listed for K-6, 7th-8th Grade, ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, High School ELA, High School Math, High School Science, and High School Social Studies).

Responsibilities

Create, internalize, modify and prepare lesson plans in accordance with academic curriculum, working closely with the grade level team.
