About The Position

The High School Special Education Teacher will be responsible for educating students with disabilities within a high school setting. This role requires establishing positive working relationships, adhering to legal and ethical practices, and applying effective teaching methodologies for students with diverse needs. A strong understanding of MTSS and PBIS frameworks is essential, along with excellent communication skills.

Requirements

• Valid Michigan Special Education Teaching Certification with at least one special education endorsement.
• Ability to establish positive working relationships with teachers, special education providers, parents, and administrators through professional communication.
• Knowledge and consistent application of the legal and ethical practices and procedures for special education and specialty areas.
• Thorough knowledge and application of the principles and methodologies of effective teaching of students with disabilities.
• In-depth understanding of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS).
• Thorough understanding of Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS).
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.

• District is open to applying for temporary approvals for candidates not yet endorsed in special education.
