About The Position

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Social Studies teacher to join and lead our High School Social Studies department. BelovED’s Social Studies program builds rigorous academic skills and knowledge, while also engaging students in authentic, purposeful learning experiences that honor student voice and choice. We focus especially on building skills in critical literacy, primary source document analysis, writing, argumentation, research, and synthesis -- the skills that students will need to succeed in college, career, and as engaged citizens. Requirements

Hold or plan to pursue a New Jersey Department of Education CE, CEAS or Standard certificate in Social Studies before they can teach it in NJ high schools.
Experience in inquiry-based teaching, teaching of reading and writing in the content area, and infusion of primary sources into their teaching.
Comfortable with creating their own lesson and unit plans (with support).
Comfortable in promoting student-centered learning and using assessment to inform instruction.

Work collaboratively with the school’s special education and ELL staff to implement the school’s special education and ELL programs and to comply with all state and federal regulations.
