About The Position

Invictus Academy of Richmond is seeking athletic coach team members for the Fall Athletics Season (Boys) to join their team and create an exceptional school. The academy prepares students in grades 7-12 to thrive in college, solve relevant problems, and communicate with confidence. Invictus creates joyful, rigorous classroom cultures where students understand the importance of content and its connection to their lives and ambitions. They build trusting, authentic relationships with students, families, and colleagues, supporting students in meeting high academic and behavior expectations. The academy is eager to learn about and implement restorative approaches and craves feedback for growth.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check through the Department of Justice.
  • Obtain a negative TB reading prior to starting employment.
  • Believe in the value of athletics as a means to teach and model the principles of fair play, teamwork, good sportsmanship, effort, and self-improvement.
  • Have the knowledge and experience to teach skills related to the sport that you coach, lead practices and conditioning for individuals and a team.
  • Be passionate about the area that you are coaching and have knowledge and experience with the techniques specific to the sport you are coaching, including strategy, player development, and skills to develop players.
  • Be eager to develop your students’ love for it too.
  • Be professional, responsible, and collaborative with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Be able to clear TB and Livescan checks before the intended start date.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with the rules, regulations, and expectations of the CIF, OAL, and BACSAC.
  • Oversee all practices and games and supervise the athletes in their use of all facilities.
  • Responsible for the care, issuing, collection, storage and inventory of all equipment and uniforms used in the program.
  • Submit to the AD a complete, cleared roster of team members and full season schedule.
  • Assist in the prevention and care of injuries.
  • Follow the appropriate procedures for budget, purchasing, and transportation.
  • Ensure that all school disciplinary policies are followed.
  • Act as liaison between the school and parents, AD and Leadership.
  • Coordinate any banquets, awards or honors with the Athletic Director.
  • Maintain a relationship with athletes based on mutual respect and trust.
  • Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance in order to perform essential functions of the role.
  • Foster open and respectful communication, offering and receiving constructive feedback to enhance personal and team performance.
  • Set and hold high expectations for academics and sportsmanship.
  • Develop trusting, authentic relationships with students and their families.
  • Encourage students to take risks and learn from their mistakes and create opportunities for students to leverage the power of their voice.
  • Supervise and engage with students in-person to ensure student safety and development.
  • Uphold and model core values, including purpose, perseverance, productivity, growth mindset, integrity, leadership, joy, gratitude, mindfulness, and kindness.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties or responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.
