About The Position

Invictus Academy of Richmond is seeking exceptional individuals to join their team as athletic coaches. This role involves teaching and modeling principles of fair play, teamwork, sportsmanship, effort, and self-improvement through athletics. The coach will be responsible for leading practices and conditioning, teaching sport-specific skills, strategy, and player development. The position requires professionalism, responsibility, and collaboration with students, families, and colleagues. The coach will ensure compliance with CIF, OAL, and BACSAC regulations, oversee practices and games, manage equipment and uniforms, assist with injury prevention and care, follow budget and transportation procedures, enforce school disciplinary policies, act as a liaison between the school and parents/AD/Leadership, coordinate banquets/awards, and maintain respectful relationships with athletes. Professional responsibilities include fostering open communication, setting high expectations for academics and sportsmanship, developing trusting relationships, encouraging risk-taking and learning from mistakes, supervising students in-person, and upholding core values such as purpose, perseverance, productivity, growth mindset, integrity, leadership, joy, gratitude, mindfulness, and kindness. The coach will also perform other reasonable duties as assigned by their supervisor.

Requirements

High school diploma or the equivalent
Pass a Criminal Background Check through the Department of Justice.
Obtain a negative TB reading prior to starting employment.
Clear TB and Livescan checks before the intended start date.
Believe in the value of athletics as a means to teach and model the principles of fair play, teamwork, good sportsmanship, effort, and self-improvement.
Have the knowledge and experience to teach skills related to the sport that you coach, lead practices and conditioning for individuals and a team.
Be passionate about the area that you are coaching and have knowledge and experience with the techniques specific to the sport you are coaching, including strategy, player development, and skills to develop players.
Be eager to develop your students’ love for it too.
Be professional, responsible, and collaborative with students, families, and colleagues.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual in Spanish.
Knowledge of child cognitive development and different learning styles.

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with the rules, regulations, and expectations of the CIF, OAL, and BACSAC.
Oversee all practices and games and supervise the athletes in their use of all facilities.
Responsible for the care, issuing, collection, storage and inventory of all equipment and uniforms used in the program.
Submit to the AD a complete, cleared roster of team members and full season schedule.
Assist in the prevention and care of injuries.
Follow the appropriate procedures for budget, purchasing, and transportation.
Ensure that all school disciplinary policies are followed.
Act as liaison between the school and parents, AD and Leadership.
Coordinate any banquets, awards or honors with the Athletic Director.
Maintain a relationship with athletes based on mutual respect and trust.
Demonstrate regular and consistent attendance in order to perform essential functions of the role.
Foster open and respectful communication, offering and receiving constructive feedback to enhance personal and team performance.
Set and hold high expectations for academics and sportsmanship.
Develop trusting, authentic relationships with students and their families.
Encourage students to take risks and learn from their mistakes and create opportunities for students to leverage the power of their voice.
Supervise and engage with students in-person to ensure student safety and development.
