An Expanded Learning Program Site Coordinator oversees an expanded learning program at a single high school site (K – 12) intended to encourage a culture of learning by providing students with the knowledge, skills, and resources for academic and personal success. Expanded Learning Programs are defined as a before school, after school, summer, or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of pupils through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. Activities may include tutoring, personal enrichment, life skills, recreation, and other activities that facilitate success. An Expanded Learning Program Site Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and oversight of programming including the supervision of Youth Leaders and other program staff who work directly with students. Under supervision from a Program Quality Supervisor, an Expanded Learning Program Site Coordinator trains and evaluates staff, and works closely with school administration, faculty, community partners, parents, and students to ensure that programming meets the needs of the school and its students as well as the policies of the California and/or Federal Department of Education. This position in the PREP program works at a high school. Programming typically occurs outside of instructional day hours for 3 – 4 hours per day and involves a variety of academic and personal enrichment activities that are based on programming goals and student interest.
