Anticipated Vacancy - High School Science Teacher
About The Position
The School District of Lancaster is seeking a High School Science Teacher. The job goal is to ensure that each student will think critically, communicate effectively, understand cultural heritage and diversity, respect human dignity and be responsible to self and community and become a contributing member of society. The teacher will create a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning, teach and apply safety principles, and incorporate equipment and technology into instruction. They will maintain current knowledge in science, keep student records, and communicate regularly with parents. The role involves planning and using various instructional techniques, maintaining and upgrading instructional content, providing opportunities for experiments, and attending staff and department meetings.
Requirements
- Appropriate PA teacher certification.
- BA required in appropriate major study.
- Must be able to organize a classroom to deliver the School District of Lancaster Science Education program.
- Strong communication and motivational skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with, instruct, and work with students, staff and parents.
- Ability to demonstrate and instruct a high level of manipulative skills.
Nice To Haves
- Masters preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Create a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning through organization.
- Teach and apply safety principles as part of all instruction.
- Incorporate equipment and apparatus and the use of technology to deliver instruction.
- Demonstrate and maintain current knowledge in science.
- Maintain student records including all required paperwork.
- Communicate regularly with parents and be available for educational purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Demonstrate appropriate planning and the use of a variety of instruction techniques and strategies.
- Maintain and upgrade instructional content via task analysis and competency review.
- Provide student with creative opportunities to carry out various experiments.
- Attend staff meetings, and department meetings.
- Assist in maintaining the storage of inventory and maintenance of departmental supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Maintain all equipment and supplies used in classroom.
- Participate in District and other science functions.
- Participate on building and District science committees.
