About The Position

North Hudson Academy is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher to teach high school science and work with students with special needs, ages 3 through 21, at a New Jersey Department of Education-approved private special education school serving students from PreK through high school. The school specializes in programs for students with behavioral and emotional issues, preschool handicaps, and learners on the Autism Spectrum. The role is part of the Instructional team and reports to the school principal. The stated schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., beginning Fall 2026. The position is located at North Hudson Academy in North Bergen, New Jersey, and offers an annual compensation range of $61,000 to $80,000.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or Early Childhood Education.
New Jersey Teacher of the Handicapped Certification or Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification, and Teacher of Science certification.
Experience working with children with disabilities.
Ability to read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

Plan and carry out individual students’ IEPs and instructional programs.
Plan and manage the school’s therapeutic approach to individual and group discipline.
Coordinate and schedule activities with other staff.
Maintain and inventory classroom supplies and instructional materials.
Keep required records.
Write reports, meet with parents and professionals, and share professional information about individual students as required.
Participate in school meetings, conferences, and in-service activities.
