About The Position

American Heritage School is seeking a full-time High School Science Teacher who is committed to academic excellence and student development in a faith-centered environment. This role is designed for an educator who is passionate about helping students grow intellectually, spiritually, and socially while supporting the school's mission and values. The ideal candidate will create a classroom atmosphere that inspires curiosity, encourages personal growth, and reflects Christian principles in daily teaching and interactions. This position is considered a faith-forming role within the school community. In addition to providing strong academic instruction, the teacher is expected to actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The role requires a teacher who can positively influence students through both instruction and personal example, fostering a classroom culture grounded in faith, respect, and discipleship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • At least two years of teaching experience, preferably within a formal educational setting.
  • Genuine love for teaching and mentoring youth.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to prepare engaging lesson plans with clear learning objectives.
  • Commitment to actively participate in and contribute to a faith-based educational environment aligned with the teachings and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Enthusiasm, consistency, and professionalism.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth.
  • Ability to use varied instructional methods to support student learning.
  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Experience working with students who have specific learning disabilities.
  • Interest or experience in supporting AHS extracurricular athletics programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong academic instruction in science.
  • Actively support, model, and teach principles consistent with the Mission and values of AHS and the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
  • Foster a classroom culture grounded in faith, respect, and discipleship.
  • Integrate faith-based principles and moral reasoning into classroom instruction where appropriate.
  • Serve as an example of Christian character and discipleship to students.
  • Support and uphold the spiritual mission of the school through daily interactions with students and colleagues.
  • Participate in school-wide devotionals, prayer, and other faith-centered activities.
  • Respond thoughtfully to student questions related to faith, values, and moral decision-making in a manner consistent with the school's mission.
  • Be professional in appearance and demeanor.
  • Serve as ambassadors for the AHS Mission, Honor Code, and Diversity Statement.
  • Ensure personal conduct, public statements, and online presence reflect and support the school's religious mission and educational purpose.
  • Bring a warm, energetic, and engaging presence to the classroom.
  • Present science material in a clear, organized, and meaningful way.
  • Foster curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Help students connect classroom learning to the world around them.
  • Create engaging lessons that encourage thoughtful discussion and practical application of concepts.
  • Distill complex information into understandable principles.
  • Maintain strong pacing, organization, and enthusiasm throughout instruction.
  • Create and post assignments with clear instructions, models, and rubrics.
  • Monitor and communicate student progress consistently.
  • Maintain collaborative, timely, and positive communication with parents and colleagues.
  • Support AHS extracurricular athletics programs (if applicable).
