About The Position

GLOW Academy is seeking a passionate High School Science Teacher dedicated to fostering student mastery, critical thinking, and success in college and beyond. The academy focuses on 'whole girl' education, emphasizing leadership development, early college and career awareness, health and wellness, and expanded opportunities in STEM and the arts. GLOW Academy is committed to recruiting and retaining high-caliber educators who are enthusiastic about learning, collaborative curriculum development, and building strong family and community partnerships. The ideal candidate will understand the importance of lifelong learning, continuous professional growth, and be passionate about single-gender education and closing the achievement gap for girls. Experience teaching North Carolina State Standards for High School Science, including Earth and Environmental, Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science, is preferred. The role involves creating rigorous and engaging lessons, building an inclusive classroom environment, and supporting the academic and social development of diverse adolescent girls.

Requirements

  • NC Teacher Certification in the subject area and relevant grades.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach high school and/or grades 6-12 with a passion for and competency in the appropriate subject area.
  • Experience in teaching high school Science.
  • Demonstrated ability to build a warm and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement positive behavior practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with students and families to support student success.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate rigorous and engaging lessons aligned to the content standards outlined in the NC Standard Course of Study.
  • Awareness of educational issues regarding the academic and social development of a diverse population of students, including minority and socioeconomically disadvantaged adolescent girls from high needs neighborhoods/communities.
  • Possession of a valid TB test issued by the local county board of health or recognized medical authority is required for employment.
